
Khabees
Khabees is a traditional Arabian dessert, Kuwait. People serve this yummy sweet dish generally in breakfast. It is made from toasted flour, sugar, and melted butter. In this recipe, khabees is seasoned with saffron and optional rose water to make it more deliciousbut note that rose water is an acquired taste.

Mix the saffron in the rosewater and put it aside for few minutes.Alternative use a little luke warm tap water and add the saffron

Put the flour in a pan over medium heat and toast it without oil until the flour is golden brown. It requires almost 15 minutes. And do this very slowly untill golden brown in small batches

Combine the toasted flour and vegetable oil/melted butter and mix well.

In a separate pan, add water and sugar and bring to boil over high heat. Add cardamom powder and saffron liquid and stir well. Cook it until the sugar is dissolved.

Gradually add the sugared water in the flour mixture and stir until the liquid is absorbed and the mixture becomes a thick paste.

Remove it from the heat and serve it on a serving platter and garnish with almonds. Enjoy this Delicious khabees at breakfast with tea or during the day when you feel like it. Excellent with Christmas as well. As a variation roast some sesame seeds and make little balls and roll them in the sesame seeds. Delicious
